Body Wise Nordic Walking Nordic Walking Kent Nordic Walking Kent

Nordic walking is an enhanced style of walking that uses light, strong poles and exercises 90% of your body’s muscles.  It is quite unique in that it is beneficial for everyone, no matter a person’s age or fitness level.  It originated in Finland where cross country skiers were able to maintain physical and mental conditioning during the summer months by using their ski poles coupled with a specific walking technique. Today Nordic Walking is recognised as one of the best ways of maintaining cardiovascular capability (better than cycling, swimming or running), whilst also, and equally importantly, developing what psychologists refer to as a state of flow or mindfulness – an essential anti-stress and resilience building activity.
